Chulalongkorn Business School (CBS), Chulalongkorn University and CREATIVE TALK take Thai students to the international stage at The ASEAN-China-India (ACI) Youth Leadership Summit 2023, Sustainability Startathon to find the most innovative ideas and plans on sustainability development.

CBS and CREATIVE TALK, the main supporting partners and hosts in Thailand, are arranging the competition for The ACI Youth Leadership Summit 2023, Sustainability Startaton. The competition focuses on the theme ‘Sustainability – Urban living.’ The competition is open for applications from now until August 21, 2023.

Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, Dean of Chulalongkorn Business School (CBS) emphasizes ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) in doing sustainable business which corresponds to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) to promote sustainable development. This competition focuses specifically on SDG 11: Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable, SDG 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns., and SDG 4 enhancing Quality Education. We aim to cultivate new wisdom and create new opportunities for Thai students to experience comprehensive learning both in the country and internationally, especially the international stage that has extended ideas and creativity in social and environmental aspects and prepared themselves to be future leaders. Thus, together with CREATIVE TALK, we hope that this competition will begin a journey toward developing sustainable business solutions that address pressing environmental and social challenges.

This is a great opportunity for Thai students to explore and experience the important topics of cross-cultural understanding, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. CBS and CREATIVE TALK, supporting partners of OSG Youth Alliance, organize the Thailand country round for the ACI Youth Leadership Summit 2023. Thai students between the ages of 18 and 24 can form teams and submit solutions to the selected program’s sustainability challenge.

Mr. Sittipong Sirimasakasem, Founder and Executive Director of CREATIVE TALK shared that he wants to encourage and support the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs who are committed to creating a more sustainable world.

Teams of five youths will brainstorm, ideate, design and, if possible, prototype a solution under time, material, and functional constraints. During this time, they will have access to masterclasses to teach students about concepts related to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), design thinking, doing social research, presentation skills, and more.

The purpose of Sustainability Startathon is to provide a platform for young generations , especially university students to showcase their innovative ideas that address sustainability challenges, receive feedback from experienced judges and facilitators, and have the opportunity to win support from corporations and universities to take their ideas to the next level. We are looking for creative and impactful solutions to a variety of challenges, ranging from renewable energy and circular economy to sustainable agriculture and urban mobility.

Competing Teams will prepare a presentation to be delivered in recorded format, to a panel of judges. This presentation will cover the problem, the proposed ideas and solutions, as well as the impact on the field and customers’ lives.

Students interested in participating can apply at https://bit.ly/3Doy4iv or contact the CREATIVE TALK page (https://www.facebook.com/creativetalklive) and LINE OA @CreativeTalk from today until August 21, 2566 (limited to 300 participants only!). The grand final will take place from October 29 to November 3, 2566 .

The ACI Youth Leadership Summit 2023 consists of two rounds and one activity. It starts with participants attending an online Masterclass. These five teams will compete in the “Final Round Thailand,” which will take place at Petralai Management Theatre, Chulalongkorn Business School, Bangkok. The three winning teams from this round will advance to the next round and will represent Thailand in a 6-day competition in Singapore against 11 other countries.

Lastly, Dean Wilert Puriwat states that the present and near-future business trends place a greater emphasis on sustainable organizational growth in accordance with ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) and the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Educational institutions must focus on developing future leaders to create global sustainability and equip students with the information, awareness, and preparedness to navigate in the new era of sustainable businesses.
